June 2012 - Part 1

The month of June is already a third of the way gone! Time is going by soooo fast and these kids are growing up too fast.

What mornings in our house look like.....

Both the kids like to sit up on the counter and hang out while Phil makes a peanut butter muffin. Leah usually comes to our room asking for her juice and "bitamins" at about 7 or a little after. She loves to get a peanut butter spoon in the mornings too! Trindon loves his juice and his bananas. I have to make sure we don't run out of bananas or he gets upset.

Notice how Leah has her pearls on with her pajamas in this picture. Just the night before we were watching a baseball game on tv and there was a lady wearing pearls. Phil said "who wears pearls to a baseball game?" Well now you know, Leah would wear pearls to a baseball game.

Trindon was trying to get Phil's gum. He pulls the funniest faces when he's interested in something.

He is so lovey and gives the best hugs and kisses.

Reading time in the "cuddle corner"

I had gone to get my haircut on a Saturday morning and Phil said the kids had gone into Leah's room to play. When he went in to check on them this is what he found. Leah told him "I'm just reading to Bubby."

Leah's birthday and first day of school

Leah turned three on June 4th and also started Sunshine School Summer Camp at First Christian Church in Durant. She absolutely loved school and didn't want to go home when I arrived to pick her up. She goes from 9:00 to 2:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays and has lunch, nap, and a snack while she's there. Since it was her birthday she got to take cupcakes for all the kids on the first day.

Ready for school with her "pack pack" and her lunch bag.
We had a Minnie Mouse party for her that night, with pizza from Marco's and a homemade strawberry mousse cake that was yummy! Josh, Melissa, and Hadley from next door joined us to celebrate Leah's birhtday!

She got some really fun presents - a dress-up trunk, wooden magnetic paper dolls (if that makes sense), a baby doll, a Wii game, Hello Kitty pj's, and a new outfit.

May 2012

What's up Wednesday has totally gone out the window I guess. I feel like I'm just trying to keep up.

May went by lightning fast for some reason. Here's a few tidbits about what kept us so busy.

We had a swimming play date with the younger Hill kids. They moved to Wyoming at the end of the month so it was super fun to get to hang out with them a couple of times before they left. Both the kids were a little hesitant about the cool water to begin with, but ended up having tons of fun.

Phil played in a softball tournament hosted by the hospital to kickoff hospital week. It was a really hot Sunday afternoon, but the kids had so much fun we spent almost four hours at the park watching the games. Leah had fun playing catch with her dad in between the games and Trindon just loved cheering on his "Da" from the stands.

Trindon had surgery to repair his undescended testicle in the middle of the month. I don't have any pictures of that (thankfully) but that did keep us tied down for a few days. He did really well and literally bounced back by that evening. The doctor ordered no horseplay for four weeks.....uhmmm okay we'll do our best!

We made an overnight trip to OKC with Phil. He had a meeting up there the next day and the kids and I ventured out to the OKC zoo. It was a really fun trip and Leah got to swim in the hotel pool.

Swimming galore! The kids love setting up the pool in the backyard and splashing around. They loved the misters at the zoo so I have started spraying them with the mist setting on the hose and they love it. Whenever I water the flowers Trindon wants me to spray him with the hose.

He kissed a pig!

The hospital did a fund raiser called "kiss the pig". Jars with various people's pictures on them were placed around the hospital to raise money for Relay for Life. The person who ended up with the most money in their jar had to kiss a pig. Phil ended up winning so we went to the hospital to watch him kiss the pig!

What's up Wednesday

What a difference a couple of years make....

Leah crawled in to Trindon's car seat when I was getting it ready to pack. She looked so HUGE I had to take a picture. It's amazing to think she was once so tiny.

It's also amazing to think what she is capable of already....Sunday, our first day back from Utah, Phil asked me to look at the back door that he was fixing. As we were discussing the options for completing the project Leah decided to turn the deadbolt and lock us out of the house! I have laughed at people who have been locked out by their children and now it's happened to me. Phil was very calm and tried to talk her through turning the deadbolt back and she was working really hard it, but just couldn't quite turn it. Luckily I realized that I had left the front door unlocked (something I NEVER do) when I returned from my walk. After we got ourselves back in the house we also remembered we had a spare key outside. So it all ended well, but it was also a good lesson learned.

Another lesson learned, kites don't last very long!

Leah has been wanting a kite for awhile. In Utah she kept talking about how she was going to get a princess kite and Bubby was going to get a Cars kite. Daddy went shopping by himself and came home with just a Cars kite, which amazingly didn't cause an epic meltdown. She had a blast flying it, but it only lasted about 15 minutes. Good thing it cost $4.....and she can get a princess kite next week.

I need to get a video of this, but for now you'll just have to take my word for it. Trindon LOVES his Daddy! When it gets late in the day Trindon starts keeping his ears open for his Daddy to come home. Our security system is set to have a notification beep go off when any doors or windows open, so starting around 5ish if Trindon hears the door beep he goes running to the garage door shouting "Da Da Da".  Phil rarely makes it home that early so the first few times are usually me taking dirty diapers to the garage, but when it is actually his "Da" he knows it. Sometimes he even puts his finger up in the air like a little dictator proclaiming the arrival of "Da". It's quite sweet and makes me and "Da" very happy!

Back in Oklamoma!

We're back in "Oklamoma" as Leah would say. We had an amazing time visiting family and friends in Utah. It was great for the kids to get reacquainted with everyone out there. Trindon was finally feeling comfortable the night before we left, and started giving everyone kisses. Other than pants with the crotch split out (Trindon) both flights went fairly well. However, I will not be doing that solo again anytime soon. Leah is already talking about "going back to Mapleton in two weeks.
Our last night there - Trindon's not happy, but he did give these folks kisses!

Playing at the Dallas airport before departure

The kids had a great Easter, we dyed eggs, hunted eggs, ate too much candy, etc.

Trindon got a much needed new haircut! Luckily we will not have to see that girl again anytime soon because Trindon was a bit of a terror in the salon. Note to self - remember to squirt the spray bottle in his mouth during the next haircut it worked like a charm to calm him down.

Before haircut

After haircut - looks like a big boy!
The weather was kind of cold while we were there, but we did get a few afternoons that were nice enough to play bubbles outside.

I'm not the greatest at remembering to take pictures. So I forgot to take a picture of Leah with Caitlin and Shae. Not sure how I let this happen, but just for the record she had a fabulous time with them! They played at Grandma's house, Aunt Angela's house, their house, and we even went to observe Shae's gymnastics class.

Leah had fun playing with all the toys at Angela's house!

What's up Wednesday - Epic Fail!

Blogging is hard work! I haven't been very good at this, but I am going to make an effort to do better when I get back from Utah. For now check out these cute pics and watch the Shutterfly website for a new album from this year. I'm working on that as I type so hopefully those pictures will upload and it will be available later today.

We were watching The Jungle Book for the first time so I could hardly get either kid to take their eyes off the tv. You know Trindon really likes a blanket if his thumb goes in his mouth, he has taken quite a liking to Leah's "cape".
